Friends of Old Westbury works in tandem with our Village and helps cover above and beyond what our Village taxes pay for, so we can truly create a beautiful theme in our publicly shared spaces.   FOW currently maintains and regularly adds numerous annual and perennial plantings to 8 locations across the Village to beautify the view as we drive and walk around Old Westbury!  This year, we overhauled  and improved the Old Westbury Road triangle, and the welcome sign on the LIE service road at Glen Cove Road  to add more color and ensure these highly visible locations pop and flourish.

In 2024 we are also  working with Village officials on their replanting of the traffic triangle at IU Willets and Bacon Roads.  It has been cleared of dead and non-thriving plantings and re-planting will begin this fall.  FOW will add color and enhancements.

We will be adding a new location this fall!  The welcome to the ‘Village of Old Westbury’ sign on Bacon Road and Hillside Ave will be the 4th sign planting funded entirely through FOW donations.  We are hoping many of you will be able to enjoy the enhanced view as you drive any of your children to The Wheatley School!

Our foundation this year is also working on establishing the dozens of lovely flowering dogwoods we have planted across the Village. We have removed the couple of struggling and dying trees and replaced them, ensuring proper irrigation will help them thrive.

If anyone has any  suggestions for additional locations in the Village  you would like to see planted in the future,  please reach out to us at  [email protected] and let us know!
